Residential Care Worker

Position Summary

Blooming Bridge is seeking dependable and compassionate Residential Care Workers to provide direct care, supervision, and support to children in a residential setting. The Residential Care Worker is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment while helping children with daily routines, emotional support, behavioral redirection, and life skills development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of children at all times.
• Support daily routines, including meals, hygiene, chores, school preparation, bedtime, and activities.
• Use trauma-informed care, positive redirection, and de-escalation techniques.
• Help children manage emotions, follow expectations, and make safe choices.
• Monitor child behavior and report concerns to leadership.
• Complete required documentation, including shift notes, incident reports, and behavior observations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment.
• Assist with transportation to school, appointments, activities, and other approved outings as needed.
• Follow all company policies, licensing requirements, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Attend required staff meetings, training, and supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children, youth, behavioral health, residential care, or social services preferred.
• Must be dependable, patient, and able to work in a structured environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm during challenging behaviors or crisis situations.
• Must pass background checks and meet all licensing requirements.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• CPR/First Aid, CPI, or trauma-informed care training preferred, or willingness to complete required training.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to lift or assist as needed based on program requirements.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
